Everybody is familiar with the saying “you don’t become a teacher for the money,” and while going abroad to teach English will almost certainly be one of the most enriching and rewarding experiences you will ever undertake, you probably don’t want to count on it to buy that tropical island you plan to buy for your retirement. That said, there are thousands of opportunities around …
It's our last session in the hospital. After my therapy, my doctor gave me series of exercises to do back home. The elders fetched us in the hospital, they wanted to see us before we leave China. Tomorrow, we're going back to the Philippines. Today's different. We did not eat in a Chinese restaurant, they brought us to Pizza Hut. I was pretty much surprised, but I guess before we leave they …
Again, therapy in the morning and shopping in the afternoon. The doctor adviced us to have a rest but we're just.. let's say.. we just want to see more of Quanzhou! Hehe.. So, we decided to go down the town. I haven't taken a bath since Monday. I just had a bentusa that day. After having bentusa, I wasn't allowed to wet my hands for 8 hours! Bentusa, releases cold air …
It's May 10, election day in the Philippines. But here I am in China, having my therapy. After our therapy we decided to go to their WalMart (pronounced as wo-er-ma). We had our lunch in KFC, Mae-mae is already scared, she's getting fat. Hehe.. We spent 100 Chinese Yuan for lunch alone. We spent the rest of the day shopping! Weeeh!
We had our therapy again. My spine is still excruciatingly painful.. Huhu Beside our hospital is a huge building that sells clothes, shoes and bags at the cheapest price. It's like a wholesale store, but they also do retail. We decided to go there before going home. =) It's almost 12 noon, a-pe called aunt Ester. We have to go home. Our lunch is already ready, so we took a cab to …
It's Saturday, since our doctor has an appointment he moved our therapy in the afternoon. A-pe Qiong decided to bring us to their cemetery so we can visit taeko (great grandfather) and taema (great grandmother). On our way to the cemetery, which is located behind a junk yard, I saw a lot of people looking for scrap metals. I thought their cemetery is like the public cemetary back in the Philippines, …
It's thursday! We had a buffet breakfast in the hotel. I'm shocked with the hotel policy. Only one occupant in a room can enjoy free breakfast. So, if there are two of you, the other one should pay for his meal. And since it's a very expensive breakfast, I decided to taste everything! Hehe.. After having my first round, Aunt Ester came told us that we should hurry up. The …
Today, we had an 8am-11am therapy. Before leaving the hotel, we already checked out for we will be traveling back to Xiamen City. Nino's mom will be going back to the Philippines tomorrow. We only brought one clothing with us since tomorrow we'll be going back to Quangzhuo for our therapy. We left our bags in the hotel's front desk. After our therapy, we rode a pedicab to a Chinese mall. …
We arrived early at Quanzhuo Osteopathy Hospital. We first had our X-ray. My x-ray result told me that my spine is leaning to the left. The last time I had an x-ray it wasn't like this. My Filipino doctor told me that I didn't have to worry, my scholiosis will no longer worsen. So what do you call this? The doctors in this hospital don't know how to speak English. I …
We woke up early, we should be ready by 8am. We had a buffet breakfast. I really love their soya milk! I wish I can have it for breakfast back home. =) At 8:30am we checked out from the hotel. From Jinjiang City we moved to Quanzhuo City where our hospital is located. Since it's a holiday, the elders (Nino's mom's sisters) decided to tour us around the city. We first …
